The UT Arlington women's basketball team will start a two game road trip tonight against Texas State with both teams struggling in conference play.

The Mavericks (3-17, 1-9 WAC) have lost nine straight games while the Bobcats (8-13, 2-9) have lost four out of their last five games.

"At least they're in Texas and are places we're familiar with," UTA coach Samantha Morrow said about the team's road trip. "We're going to work our tails off to try and get some wins this week."

The Mavericks have not held a lead in two of their last three games and junior forward Desherra Nwanguma said the team needs to do something different to get off to better starts.

"We try to get hyped in the locker room and clearly it doesn't carry over on the court so as a team we need to figure out what to change up to have better energy and mindset to start the game," she said.

The Bobcats are second in the conference in scoring offense averaging 70 points a game while the Mavericks are last with 57 points a game.

This is the 58th meeting between the schools with Texas State winning the first meeting this season 63-57 on Jan. 12.

UTA will conclude its road trip against UT San Antonio at 6 p.m. Saturday.
