2012 Record: 11-2

Players signed: 31 Signees from Texas: 22

Offense: Coach Kevin Sumlin built on a strong debut season, coupled with the return of Heisman Trophy-winning QB Johnny Manziel, to land a deep collection of tall, speedy receivers. Led by WR Ricky Seals-Jones (6-foot-5, 225), the nation's top-ranked WR by Scout.com, the list also includes Ja'Quay Williams (6-3, 210) and Kyrion Parker (6-2, 190). Kenny Hill, a dual-threat QB from Southlake Carroll, has the ideal skill set for Sumlin's spread offense. With so many signees, the Aggies replenished at all positions and added ample speed. RB James White is a four-star talent, TE Cameron Clear (6-6, 270) could be an impact JC addition and the Aggies landed three jumbo-sized offensive linemen, with plans for some to contribute immediately.

Defense: A&M added a nice collection of upsized defensive backs, a must for any SEC defense, with the most heralded being S Kameron Miles (6-1, 215). Three four-star playmakers join the defensive trenches (Hardreck Walker, Isaiah Golden, Justin Manning), another key SEC ingredient. There is a solid group of inside linebackers, topped by Darian Claiborne, and OLB Tommy Sanders, a JC transfer, should contribute immediately. But even with the last-minute addition of DE Daeshon Hall, who reneged Wednesday on a verbal commitment to Washington, the Aggies could have used more influx at the position with All-American Damontre Moore headed to the 2013 NFL Draft. But there's plenty of speed. CB Alex Sezer Jr. has run a 4.3 in the 40-yard dash.

Immediate impact: WR Ja'Quay Williams. The Aggies lost three of last season's top targets to graduation and Williams, who enrolled in January, will take part in spring drills. WR Ricky Seals-Jones will join the team for fall drills.

Local Ties: OL Joas Aguilar, Birdville; QB Kenny Hill, Southlake Carroll; LB Brett Wade, Kennedale
