2012 record: 8-5

Players signed: 23 Signees from Texas: 14

Offense: Coaching changes always make the recruiting season shaky, but Kliff Kingsbury's hiring at Tech helped save quarterback recruit Davis Webb. Wide receiver Devin Lauderdale, another key player, also re-committed to the Red Raiders. Tech bolstered its line depth, too, by signing five linemen led by Baylen Brown, Aaron Bennett, Joshua Outlaw, Poet Thomas and Cody Hayes.

Defense: The Red Raiders didn't have any standout defensive recruits, but got three-star defensive back Dorian Crawford. Linebackers Jacarthy Mack and Kahlee Woods are also three-star recruits, according to Rivals.com.

Immediate impact: Junior-college transfer Demetrius Alston could make his way into the defensive line rotation immediately. He was originally heading to Cincinnati, but changed his mind once former Tech coach Tommy Tuberville took over the Bearcats.

Area ties: Cody Hayes, Fort Worth Eastern Hills
