An argument about dog feces dumped at a front door early Monday in northeast Dallas led to gunfire, two deaths and a 75-year-old man in police custody.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of Abrams Road in northeast Dallas, police reported.

Investigators believe that Michelle Jackson and Jamie Stafford, both 31, dumped their dog's excrement at the front door and on the patio of downstairs neighbor Chung Kim, 75, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

During a subsequent argument, Kim "produced a handgun" and fatally shot Jackson as she stood outside her front door on her balcony, the affidavit stated.

Kim went upstairs, entered the neighbors' apartment and shot at Stafford, who was climbing over the patio railing, attempting to flee, officers reported.

Stafford dropped to the ground, but Kim stood over him and shot again, killing him, police said in the affidavit.

Kim fled in a black Lexus sport utility vehicle.

Witness described Kim and the vehicle to police, and officers stopped him less than a half-mile away near the intersection of Abrams Road and Larmanda Street, the affidavit stated.

Kim faces a capital murder charge, said Demarquis Black, Dallas police spokesman.

"He has an unrelated medical condition and is being treated at a local hospital, but remains in police custody," Black said
