Roanoke prohibits cell phone use in school zones

Roanoke recently joined Trophy Club in prohibiting the use of cell phones in school zones.

City Council passed the ordinance during a Jan. 22 meeting, which will prohibit the use of cell phones in school zones on days during hours when crossing zones are in effect.

The ordinance includes exceptions for when a vehicle is stopped or when a hands-free device is being used. . Motorists found guilty of violating the ordinance could be fined up to $200.

Hillwood to offer multifamily housing

Hillwood Multifamily, a subsidiary of Hillwood Properties, said it will build a 306-unit luxury apartment community at its Alliance development in far north Fort Worth called SageStone Village.

The community will be on 13 acres in the master-planned, mixed-use Alliance Town Center. Residents will be able to walk to the nearby shops and restaurants.

SageStone Village will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom, three-story apartment homes with attached garages. The units will average 940 square feet.
