Summit boys down Lake Ridge

Summit’s boys basketball team was able to once again top its new crosstown rival, beating Lake Ridge last week 59-44.

Summit previously bested Lake Ridge by just one point earlier in the season in a 49-48 thriller. This time, the Jaguars were able to top the Eagles by double-digits thanks to an 16-8 first quarter advantage.

The Jaguars would outscore the Eagles in every quarter but the second. Sophomore forward Terrance Hubby led the way with 20 points for Summit.

Summit then rode a dominant first half to an easy 61-38 win against Ennis on Friday. Summit led 34-12 at halftime.

Senior guard Patrick Tshituka led the Jaguars with 17 points. The win was Summit’s eighth win in District 15-4A, good for third place behind Mansfield Legacy and Arlington Seguin.

Legacy boys keep rolling

The Legacy boys basketball team extended its win streak to 10 games after a pair of double-digit victories against Ennis and Waxahachie.

Against Waxahachie, senior guard Marchie Murdock led Legacy with 18 points. Against Ennis, Murdock led the way again with 12 points.

The two wins kept Legacy atop District 15-4A with a 10-1 record. Arlington Seguin also sports a 10-1 district record, but Legacy holds the tiebreaker, having beaten Seguin earlier in the season.

Timberview held South Grand Prairie to single digit scoring quarters in every quarter in route to the win.

The Summit Lady Jaguars picked up two wins in District 15-4A last week, beating Lake Ridge and Red Oak.

Summit exacted revenge in its 37-34 win against Red Oak. Red Oak previously beat Summit earlier in January. Keanna Kelly led Summit with 12 points.

The Lady Jaguars defense was dominant against Lake Ridge in a 43-22 win. Summit held Lake Ridge scoreless in the first quarter.
