Stars at Avalanche

8 tonight, Pepsi Center, Denver

TV: NBC Sports Network Radio: KTCK/1310 AM

Records: Stars 3-5-1, 7 points, Avalanche 4-4-0, 8 points

Notable: The Stars have only one victory, a shootout win Friday against Phoenix, in their last six games.... Colorado has won two straight after three straight bad defeats.... Left wing Ray Whitney, the Stars' points leader with six, was placed on injured reserve before Saturday's 2-0 loss at Phoenix. The Dallas Morning News reported that Whitney, 40, is expected to miss four to six weeks because of a broken foot.... The Stars are averaging only 1.78 goals per game (next to last in the 30-team NHL) and giving up 2.56 (13th best). Colorado is at 2.38. and 2.50.... Forward Loui Eriksson tallied two goals and three assists in four contests against the Avalanche last season.... The Avalanche has captain and forward Gabriel Landeskog (head) and forward David Jones (knee) on injured reserve.... Colorado forward Milan Hejuk is set to play in his 1,000th game as a member of the Avalanche tonight. He will be only the second player in Quebec/Colorado franchise history to reach 1,000, joining Joe Sakic (1,378, 508 with Quebec and 870 with Colorado).
