About the Mavericks : The Mavericks are 2-0 against the Suns this season. O.J. Mayo broke an 87-87 tie with a 21-foot jumper with 34 seconds left as the Mavericks won in Phoenix 97-94 on Dec. 6. That came a day after the LA Clippers blew out the Mavericks by 22 points. On Sunday, Shawn Marion contributed 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Mavericks to a 110-95 victory over the Suns in Dallas.... Mayo leads the Mavericks with 17.8 points per game, is shooting 46 percent from the field and is 15th in the NBA in 3-point shooting at 41.9 percent.... Dirk Nowitzki is averaging 14.8 points, and Darren Collison is averaging 12.9 points and 5.2 assists.

About the Suns : The Suns are 3-2 since they recently replaced coach Alvin Gentry with Lindsey Hunter. That includes wins over the Kings, Clippers and Lakers. In Wednesday's 92-86 victory over the Lakers, Michael Beasley came off the bench and had 27 points and six rebounds, and Marcin Gortat collected 14 points and 12 rebounds.... The Suns are 18th in the NBA in scoring (95.5 points), 21st in points allowed (99.5) and 26th in rebounds (40.4).... Goran Dragic is the pacesetter with averages of 14.1 points and 6.4 assists, Luis Scola is averaging 13.2 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Gortat averages 11.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.
