The Fort Worth Brahmas have won three straight and seven of their last eight to climb into third place in the Central Hockey League as they begin a two-game homestand tonight against the Rapid City Rush at NYTEX Sports Centre.

The Brahmas are three points behind Wichita, four from Allen and have the league's fewest home losses with three.

The Brahmas lead seventh-place Rapid City by nine points in the standings, are 3-0 against the Rush this season, but won each of the matchups by only one goal, including a 1-0 shutout at home on Jan. 4.

Brahmas rookie goaltender Kristofer Westblom on Thursday was named 50/50 Central Rookie of the Month for January. In eight January starts, Westblom went 7-1-0 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .899 save percentage. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, native has won his last six starts, dating to Jan. 11. Westblom also is tied for the league lead with three shutouts.

After tonight, Fort Worth hosts eighth-place Arizona on Saturday before beginning a five-game road trip through Allen, Denver and Arizona.
