A Grapevine man pointed a shotgun at police officers and then shot himself in the head Wednesday night, police said.
The 32-year-old man was in critical condition Thursday at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.Officers were sent to a residence in the 2700 block of North Grapevine Mills Boulevard about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday to make a welfare check. The resident there was threatening to harm himself, according to a statement from Grapevine police.The man was standing at the top of the stairs inside his apartment when he pointed a shotgun at the officers, police said. Both officers fired at the man, who retreated into his living room. He was not struck by the officers' gunfire, police said.Officers set up a perimeter around the apartment and, while waiting for other officers to arrive, they heard a gunshot inside, police said.
