LAFAYETTE, La. -- Alexis Hyder notched her fifth double-double of the season to lead North Texas (8-13, 7-5) to a 64-46 win over Louisiana-Lafayette at the Earl K. Long Gym on Wednesday night.
Hyder scored 14 points and had a career-high 16 rebounds to help end the Mean Green's three-game losing streak."We did a nice job tonight and this is a hard building to play in," North Texas women's basketball coach Mike Petersen said. "We didn't start well at all, but I've been a little spoiled with that of late, but we fought through that and Alexis played strong and it was a nice effort."Both teams struggled early offensively, but North Texas broke open a tie game with a 9-0 run to close out the first half, and take the lead for good. North Texas will play at Sun Belt West Division-leader Arkansas State at 2 p.m. Sunday.
