Galveston has the third-largest Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S., running until Feb. 12, and it includes parades (with floats from the famous Mardi Gras World in New Orleans), masked balls, a choreographed umbrella dance, laser shows and more. There's even a carnival-themed cruise on the Carnival Triumph to Mexico's Cozumel and Progreso, departing Feb. 11. More on that, including pricing, at cruisekrewe.com. Friday, it's Boots on the Beach, with Jerry Jeff Walker, Joe Ely and others, where you can dance and enjoy the beer garden; beachcentralgalveston.com. Saturday, there's the Mardi Gras Ball at Tremont House; galveston.com/mardigrasball.
