The Weatherford College baseball team is ranked 26th in the Perfect Game national preseason Top 50 junior college rankings released Jan. 23.

The Coyotes are returning from their third straight postseason berth and the seventh winning season in the program’s 10-year history.

The rankings, released on perfectgame.org, include teams from all three divisions of NJCAA baseball as well as squads from California and the Northwest that are not members of the NJCAA.

Perfect Game lists Hunter Lockwood, a transfer catcher from the University of Oklahoma, as WC’s top prospect for 2013.

The Coyotes begin the regular season on Friday at Angelina College in Lufkin, and open at home the following weekend, Feb. 8-9, versus Midland College at WC’s Roger Williams Ballpark.
