Big 12 athletic directors will meet today and Tuesday in Irving for talks about the future of the league, with topics to include the pros and cons of expansion as well as the viability of future scheduling alliances with other leagues.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby has said league officials could be proactive on the expansion front, if necessary, but stressed that most administrators remain satisfied with the league's 10-team configuration "until we're persuaded that larger is better."

Entering into a scheduling agreement with the ACC and other leagues could offer financial benefits without expanding the league, Bowlsby said.

League officials also will deal with future football schedules and other issues during the regularly scheduled meeting.

Nutt, Ole Miss settle

Mississippi agreed to pay former coach Houston Nutt a lump sum of $4.35 million to complete his contract buyout.

Nutt was fired after the 2011 season, his fourth at Ole Miss, with about $6 million left on his contract.

Doubles saves TCU

TCU swept doubles competition, helping the Horned Frogs edge visiting Sam Houston State 4-3 in women's tennis.

The teams split singles matches 3-3, but the Frogs won all three doubles matches to up their record to 2-0.

"I thought we played really well in the doubles," TCU coach Dave Borelli said. "A couple of the kids struggled in the singles and I was surprised, but it's a long year and we'll keep getting better.

"The positive was in the doubles. I was very happy with that. Sam Houston State played well in the singles, so you've got to give them credit."
