Weatherford Christian School Lions and Lady Lions basketball teams resumed play after Christmas break.
On Jan. 22, in their first district game, the Lady Lions played at home against Victory Baptist.With a poor shooting performance, WCS lost 33-17. The Lady Lions fell to (0-1) in district.After the game, head coach Debby Steensma talked about her team's performance."The girls played good defense, and they ran the plays correctly," Steensma said. "We just could not make our shots."Also that night, the Lions played Victory Baptist. Led by freshman Austin Wheeling with 14 points, the Lions would win the game, 27-14.Coach Alan Weaver spoke about his team after leaving with a victory."The boys played well considering we only had seven guys," Weaver said. "With injuries to our leading scorer, Patrick Binzer, and two others, it has been difficult."Tonight, the boys played good team basketball and got a win."On Jan. 18, the Lady Lions and Lions played in front of a large crowd on homecoming night.
