The Granbury Chamber of Commerce has honored Weatherford College's president with one of its most distinguished awards.

During the Chamber's Annual Awards Banquet Jan. 18, Dr. Kevin Eaton was named the 2013 recipient of the Howard Clemmons Distinguished Service Award.

WC opened its Education Center at Granbury in the fall of 2011, and enrollment has already surpassed 320 students. While presenting the award to Eaton, Chamber President and CEO Mike Scott praised Eaton for his role in bringing WC to Hood County.

"The education of our children, our workforce and our citizens took a quantum leap forward as we helped Weatherford College open its new Granbury campus," Scott said. "It is always appropriate to honor those who help make things happen but lest we forget, the person who steps out on the limb and takes the risk is the ultimate driving force. Please help me honor that person."

The award is named for the late Howard Clemmons, former Granbury mayor, city councilman and Chamber president.

Eaton has served as WC's president since 2009.
