Grand Prairie police are seeking the public's help in finding a car that fatally struck a 6-year-old boy Thursday evening as he crossed the street.
John Raidy was crossing North Carrier Parkway at Holiday Hills Drive at 7:30 p.m. when a southbound car hit him, police said. The driver "stopped briefly" then left the scene.Raidy was taken by ambulance to Arlington Memorial Hospital where he died, police said.NBC5 reported that the boy was crossing the street with his mother and sister when he was hit.According to witnesses, the car appeared to be a newer model black or dark blue 4-door hatchback or small SUV with headlights and taillights that wrap around the corners of the vehicle, Police said. It also had "a rear axle that is close to the rear of the vehicle."It likely has minor front-end damage from the wreck, police said.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police traffic division at 972-237-8790Investigators were working to obtain video images that could help identify the vehicle, police said.The boy's death was the 2nd traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.Alex Branch, 817-390-7689Twitter: @albranch1Have more to add?
