A year and a half ago, an 11-year-old said that the Boy Scouts were lame and boring. Even though he thought badly of Boy Scouts at the time, he has definitely changed his opinion.

That boy, now 12, is me. Although Boy Scouts are thought of unfavorably by some people, I finally joined a troop. I pretty quickly changed my mindset. While it has been really fun to learn how to tie knots and go camping, nothing is as important as the qualities that mature a boy. Boy Scouts of America has received many cruel remarks lately by some people. What did we ever do to them? We did nothing. What I am trying to say is that Boy Scouts are helpful. If they can change someone like me -- change one boy's life -- well, 1 million starts with one.
