US Airways, which would like to merge with American Airlines, reported a profit of $37 million for the fourth quarter.

The Tempe-based carrier said its revenues grew 3.9 percent to $3.3 billion for the quarter. However, the company's quarterly results were hurt by Hurricane Sandy by about $35 million.

For the full year, US Airways said it reported a record profit of $637 million compared to a $71 million profit in 2011. It also had record revenues of $13.8 billion, up almost 6 percent compared to prior year.

"We enter 2013 with great momentum and enthusiasm and are well positioned for whatever may lie ahead," said US Airways chief executive Doug Parker in a statement.

Parker and other US Airways executives will discuss the carrier's earnings results on an investor conference call at 10:30 a.m. CDT on Wednesday.
