A small earthquake was felt at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday in Irving, Dallas, Coppell and Euless, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
No damage was immediately reported, "nor would there be any expected for a magnitude-3 earthquake," said Dale Grant, a geophysicist at the survey's National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo. The quake was centered about five miles north-northwest of Irving."You would have to get up to around magnitude 4 or greater to see real damage," Grant said."That would be 10 times stronger than a magnitude 3."Grant said he had no explanation for Tuesday's quake but did note that it was the latest "in a continuing series" of small quakes in North Texas.Similar earthquakes were reported in September and November, according to the agency.Have more to add?
