An Arlington man who was struck by a hit-and-run driver as he drove a motorized scooter last week has died, authorities said Tuesday.

James Hawley, 64, died Monday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, of multiple blunt force trauma, making his death a homicide, the Tarrant County medical examiner's office ruled.

Arlington police have appealed for the public's help for several days to identify the motorist who left the scene of the Jan. 14 crash.

Hawley was crossing the 300 block of North Collins Street, near Division Street, on a scooter about 1:30 a.m. when he was hit by a northbound car described as possibly a 2006 to 2010 Chevrolet Impala, according to police.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, the vehicle was a metallic blue sedan that would be missing the driver's side mirror, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Arlington police at 817-459-5635.
