An Arlington man who was struck by a hit-and-run driver as he drove a motorized scooter last week has died, authorities said Tuesday.

The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the victim as James Hawley, 64, who died Monday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Hawley suffered multiple injuries in the Jan. 14 wreck and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Arlington police continued their search Tuesday for the driver. Authorities have appealed for help for several days to identify the motorist who left the scene.

Hawley was crossing North Collins near Division Street on his scooter about 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 14 when he was hit by a car described as possibly a 2006 to 2010 Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound, according to police.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, the motorist was driving a metallic blue sedan missing the driver's side mirror.

Anyone with information should call Arlington police at 817-459-5635.
