One way to break open a three-way tie is to battle one of the teams sporting the identical record.

That opportunity awaits Keller this Friday when the Lady Indians travel to Southlake to take on Carroll, a team that along with Keller and Richland sports an 8-1 district records heading into Tuesday's schedule of girls basketball games.

Keller was set to play Fossil Ridge on Tuesday, but results were unavailable at the press deadline.

More of the three-way confusion will be settled as Carroll and Richland were facing each other on Tuesday.

Keller hopes to reverse their fortunes against Carroll after the first meeting this season was a 65-33 runaway by the Lady Dragons.

The Lady Indians will need to continue to be able to use their outside shooting by Jennifer Lutz if they can't work inside and get additional support from their leading scorer, Rani Parkinson.

In the first meeting, Parkinson was held to 11 points, down from her 14.2 average.

Keller (17-11) is coming off a 55-42 win over Central on Friday, a game in which Parkinson's 16 points were second to teammate Ali Gribbin's 22.

Carroll has shown its vulnerability as recent as Friday, when Timber Creek took the Lady Dragons to the wire in a 41-40 loss.

Timber Creek took Carroll to the final seconds before two free throws by Carroll that spelled the difference.

Hillary Kelly scored 12 points in the losing effort for Timber Creek.

The Lady Falcons, at 5-4, entered the week in the all-important fourth spot in the district and are playing to maintain the playoff spot.

They can turn the top half of the district into turmoil in their Friday game with Richland, following their Tuesday tilt with Central.

In the first meeting with Richland, Timber Creek lost by just four points in a 49-45 decision. Emily Spector put on a show, scoring 23 points in the game.

Fossil Ridge is on Timber Creek's heels at 4-5.

Ridge is coming off a 59-37 win over Northwest on Friday, a game in which Allyson Te'o scored 17 and Madison Crawford had 15 for the Panthers.

Grayson Bright of Fossil Ridge remains one of the top scorers in Class 5A, with a better-than 14-point average.

Fossil Ridge and Central will pair up on the schedule this Friday.

Central, just 2-7 in district, has had good outings from players such as Kiera Bell, Lexi Carey, Heather Crabill and Tiffany Wilson. Wilson finished with 11 points in the Keller game on Friday.
