The Mansfield Hockey Association varsity team's modest two-game winning streak came to an end last week against Frisco, as the Tigers lost 3-2 in a shootout.

Mansfield entered the game with back-to-back wins against Allen and Denton. The Tigers still picked up a point in the standings with the overtime loss coming after a regulation tie.

The Tigers attacked Frisco early and often, outshooting Frisco in every single period and in overtime. However, neither team could break through and grab a goal through the first two periods.

In the third period, Frisco scored the first goal of the game 13 seconds in on a power play goal from Brian Romero.

A little over two minutes later, Mansfield's leading point-scorer, Kyle Watson, answered with a power-play goal of his own.

Bobby Baumeister and Remington Schugart assisted on the goal.

Frisco would once again take the lead, this time on a shorthanded goal from Chris Salmon, giving Frisco a 2-1 lead. Baumeister tied the game for Mansfield and sent it into overtime with an assist from Schugart and Tanner Woody.

Mansfield would outshoot Frisco 5-0 in overtime but failed to score. In the shootout, Romero scored the winning goal for Frisco.

The Tigers outshot Frisco 40-21. Frisco goalie Matias Hermanson stopped 38 of the 40 shots. Mansfield's Joe Sheppard had 18 saves.

The game was very physical, with 17 total penalties. Mansfield had 11 penalties and 38 penalty minutes, while Frisco had six totaling 12 minutes.

Mansfield next takes on Garland/Bishop Lynch tomorrow night in Euless.
