I want to thank Bob Ray Sanders for the column about a principal letting a 19-year-old in Dunbar High School knowing he had a very troubled past. (See: "Fort Worth principal's gamble helps a student succeed when others gave up," Jan. 13)

Principal Carlos Walker is an excellent administrator. I taught several years with him when he was at O.D. Wyatt High School. It truly sounds like Deterrius Boose wants to make a life change. I pray he will succeed and that Carlos can mentor him through this tough time.
