Officials from Weatherford College, Perry Equipment Corporation/PECOFacet, Inc., the Texas Workforce Commission and Rep. Phil King's office gathered last week to celebrate together the College's receipt of a TWC Skills Development Fund grant in the amount of $476,076.

Funds from the grant will be used to custom train 292 new and incumbent Perry Equipment workers to enhance productivity, quality and safety at the Mineral Wells manufacturing site. Training also will be conducted at the WC Education Center in Mineral Wells. Those trained will include welders, machine operators and material handlers. Upon completion of training, the workers will earn an average hourly wage of $18.75.

TWC Commissioner Tom Pauken presented the ceremonial check to WC president Dr. Kevin Eaton and representatives from Perry Equipment at the signing ceremony in the College's Mince Administration Building.
