Johnson County authorities say they are investigating an apparent hit-and-run wreck that killed a woman early Friday in Godley.

Police officers were dispatched about 1:35 a.m. to a one-vehicle, rollover wreck involving a Chevrolet pickup in the 9000 block of FM 2331 South, according to the Johnson County sheriff's office. As a Godley police officer arrived at the scene, 911 operators received a second call reporting the discovery of a body.

Early in the investigation, it appeared that the pickup was southbound when the 49-year-old female driver lost control of the truck on a curve in the road, authorities said. The truck left the roadway and rolled into a field.

Investigators don't know if the woman was ejected from the truck during the accident or climbed out on her own, authorities said. But she "apparently made it back to the roadway where she was struck by another vehicle that then left the scene."

So far, there was no indication that alcohol was involved, authorities said. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is assisting in the investigation.

The woman's name will be released once her family has been notified.

Anyone who drove past the scene or has information about the accident can call the Godley Police at 817 389-3539 or Johnson County Sheriff's dispatch at 817 556-6060.
