FORT WORTH -- Fort Worth's city warrant section will take its computer system down for a software upgrade this weekend, meaning a temporary holiday for anyone wanted on a Class C misdemeanor or code violation warrant.

The warrant section will be closed 6 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Tuesday for the scheduled upgrade and conversion.

No staff will be on hand to confirm warrants for Class C misdemeanors, so police and other agencies won't be able to arrest anybody on a Class C warrant, said William Rumuly, clerk of the Municipal Court.

Warrants for higher-level misdemeanors and felonies won't be affected, Rumuly said. The city's Police Public Information Center confirms those, and it will remain open.

Court personnel will fully staff the city's arraignment jail this weekend but will work only the higher charges, officials said.

Police can still write tickets for Class C offenses, such as public intoxication, but the paperwork won't be entered until Tuesday.

The Municipal Court asked police to inform other law enforcement agencies of the temporary closure.
