School officials lifted the lockdown at Lamar High School in Arlington during the lunch hour after authorities did not find a student with a handgun.

The school at 1400 W. Lamar Boulevard in Arlington was closed for more than three hours Tuesday after a student told a school resource officer that a classmate may have brought a handgun to school.

No weapon was found and Arlington police do not believe a student with a gun is on the campus.

The resource officer received the information shortly after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

School officials said that the campus would be closed for lunch.
