TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga is leaving to enter the NFL Draft and will not play his senior season. Maponga announced the decision on his Twitter account Monday evening.

"So blessed and thankful to be in this position," Maponga said via Twitter. "First of all, thank you Lord, family, coaches, teammates, and fans ... I'll always have y'all in my heart."

Maponga missed two games with a foot injury in 2012, and needed postseason surgery, coach Gary Patterson said a month ago.

He does not have his degree, unlike Josh Boyce, who also elected to forgo his senior season.

Maponga became an all-conference player in the Mountain West and Big 12 after attending Hebron High School in Carrollton.

He led TCU with 13.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks and forced five fumbles as a sophomore in 2011. He earned All-Big 12 honors after finishing with 6.5 tackles for loss, including four sacks in 2012.

USC fires O'Neill

Kevin O'Neill was fired as USC basketball coach after 31/2 years during which he failed to turn around a program weighed down by NCAA issues that preceded his arrival and a string of injuries. O'Neill had a 48-65 record, including 7-10 this season after going 6-26 last year.
