Asusena Reséndiz started Monday as the new president and CEO of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Reséndiz most recently served as president of the Irving Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where she accepted the 2011 National Small Chamber of Commerce of the Year award from the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.The Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber said Reséndiz brings extensive experience in nonprofit and private sector management, economic development, marketing, strategic planning and specialized event production. She will focus on growing and developing Hispanic and minority-owned small businesses.Reséndiz replaces Rosa Navejar, who stepped down as CEO in August. Navejar headed the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber for 11 years.Reséndiz is the daughter of immigrants who came to the U.S. from San Luís Potosí, México.A native of Petersburg, in West Texas, she grew up working on her father's farm and in her mother's restaurant. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University.Reséndiz also holds certifications in Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Board Governance, Nonprofit Leadership Growth, Personal and Organizational Branding, and Nonprofit Lobbying and Advocacy through the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business.She was awarded the prestigious 2012 Latina Style Honors Latina Leaders Award given by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber.Sandra Baker, 817-390-7727Twitter: @SandraBakerFWSTHave more to add?
