A woman found dead in her Grand Prairie apartment early Sunday has been identified as 32-year-old Angela Bynum, police said Monday.

No one has been arrested, but her estranged boyfriend remains a person of interest, said Grand Praire Det. Lyle Gensler.

"This is still a very active case with several pieces of evidence being processed," Gensler said in an email. "We hope to have futher information passed on in the next 48 hours."

Bynum, the mother of a 13-month-old child, was found dead early Sunday at her Grand Prairie apartment by a friend who went to check on her after she didn't show up for work, Grand Prairie police said.

Authorities are investigating the death as a homicide, but they did not release details.

Police responded at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday to The Clairborne Apartments in the 2300 block of North Texas 360 in Grand Prairie. The friend told investigators that the woman was not at work the night before, so she drove to her apartment to check on her.

The friend walked in and found her dead, according to a Grand Prairie police news release.

During the investigation, authorities determined that the woman had been living with her 13-month-old son, who was not at home, police said.

Shortly after the woman was found, her son was located with his father, Bynum's estranged boyfriend.

The child has been in the custody of his grandparents, police said.
