A North Texas motorist was killed early Sunday in Denton County when he lost control of his truck, which hit a drainage culvert and overturned, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper said Sunday night.

Three passengers were hurt. Authorities identified the victim as Colbey Parsons, 22, of Iowa Park, who died at the scene.

Justin Coats, 23, of Saint Jo was seriously injured and was taken to Denton Regional Medical Center.

Parsons and Coats were not wearing seat belts, a DPS report says.

Kassie Horner and Ashlynn Bell, both 22 and from Saint Jo, were take to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton with injuries that are not life-threatening. They were wearing seat belts, the reports said.

The crash was reported shortly before 3 a.m. on Farm Road 2450, less than a mile north of Farm Road 455.

DPS Sgt. Lonny Haschel said Parsons turned left and overcorrected, and the truck veer off the road.
