Others in need of aid

I feel compelled to talk about the billions of dollars in aid being discussed in the media and the outcry made by the New Jersey governor about federal aid that has not been forthcoming.

How is this any different from those people who have lost everything as a result of massive layoffs in this country? Hundreds of people have lost everything, including their homes, because of layoffs and an inability to find work. Where are the billions in aid for them?

The year 2013 is going to be devastating to thousands more people, and they are going to suffer just as the Sandy victims have suffered. But billions in aid won't be forthcoming. As defense contractor employees, my family is faced with the real possibility of losing our home and I can guarantee there won't be an outcry on our behalf for aid. When those defense workers get laid off, the impact is going to be less taxes paid and less product being purchased, and the trickle-down effect is going to hurt this country.
