A Hill County man who admitted to Fort Worth police that looking at little boys' penises in restrooms was "kind of like a hobby" has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
Michael Allen Manske, 48, was arrested by Fort Worth police June 9 after a father noticed the man staring in the direction of his son's penis as the boy stood at a urinal in a bathroom at Texas Motor Speedway, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. The father confronted Manske, who fled but was later arrested after the father spotted him in the grandstands and alerted police. A search of his cellphone and his home in Hubbard later revealed child pornography.Manske later pleaded guilty in connection with the case to two counts of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith to 10 years in federal prison and 10 years supervised released, according to records in the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Texas. After his June arrest by Fort Worth police, Manske told sexual assault investigator Brent Johnson that he had just gotten off probation from looking at little boys' penises in the bathroom of Main Event at Interstate 20 and Bryant Irvin Road, according to an affidavit. After completing probation, he also no longer had to register as a sex offender.Manske told Johnson that he likes to look at boys' penises and see how many he can see."Manske advised that he travels to sporting events and other places where kids are so that he can look at little boys' pensises," Johnson wrote in the affidavit.Detectives believe Manske traveled to find boys, noting they found several gasoline receipts in Manske's wallet from all over the Metroplex.Less than a month before his arrest by Fort Worth police, Manske had also been spotted at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington watching boys at urinals in restrooms on the main concourse level. Though police found no evidence that Manske had been photographing boys in the restroom, other images of children found on his phone led to a state charge of improper photo/visual recording. That charge was still pending Tuesday, Tarrant County court records show.A search of Manske's Hubbard home by Fort Worth police and other jurisdictions on June 15 led to the seizures of numerous videotapes later found to contain child pornography.Manske's father took investigators to his son, who worked at a ranch in Hill County. When found, Manske was eating inside a barn and looking at his laptop, which he closed upon seeing officers. A search of the laptop later revealed more child pornography images, the affidavit states.Deanna Boyd, 817-390-7655Twitter: @deannaboydHave more to add? News tip? Tell us
