Kay Bailey Hutchison's retirement from the U.S. Senate and the Washington political arena will leave a void. She was a pioneer and advocate for her constituents, lobbying for many causes that benefited both political parties and those they represented.

She lent a hand to both sides of the aisle, and she also benefited those of us in Fort Worth and Dallas as she was very compatible with our Congresswoman Kay Granger.

Being one of the first female on-camera television reporters in Texas was Hutchison's springboard to politics -- as a legislator, state treasurer and the first woman from Texas elected U.S. senator. Her legacy of accomplishments and record of bipartisanship will be her indelible stamp in history. She has served her country proudly.
