Couple of days of rain in Dallas-Fort Worth's near future
FORT WORTH -- After a partly cloudy Monday, North Texans can expect a good soaking over the next couple of days, National Weather Service forecasters advise.
Rain could arrive very early Tuesday with an upper-level storm system that formed over California and has begun moving east, the weather service said.
Most of North Texas can expect between two and three inches of rainfall, beginning as early as the wee hours Tuesday and continuing into Wednesday, said meteorologist Jamie Gudmestad of the weather service's Fort Worth office. She said there's a 10 percent chance of rain very early Tuesday that grows to a 60 percent chance during the day and reaches 80 percent around sunset. A 90 percent chance early Wednesday drops to 40 percent by Wednesday night, Gudmestad said.
"There will be isolated thunderstorms, but it's mostly just a cold rain," she said.
Chilly temperatures in the upper 20s met commuters Monday morning. The high is forecast to be in the mid to upper 50s. Tuesday's temperatures will range from 40 to 52, Gudmestad said. Wednesday should bottom out at around 49 degrees in the morning, reaching the upper 50s in the afternoon.
North Texas' next shot at precipitation is a 15 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday, Gudmestad said.
