A 77-year-old Arlington woman reported missing by her family Dec. 18 was found dead Thursday less than two miles from her home, police said.

Maria Arrocha's body was found about 2:15 p.m. in the woods in the 1300 block of East Abram Street by officers working with volunteers from Search One Rescue Team, which uses dogs, according to a police news release.

On Friday, the Tarrant County medical examiner officially identified the remains. Arrocha's death was caused by exposure, the medical examiner ruled. There were no signs of foul play.

Arrocha was last seen by relatives about 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at her home in the 1800 block of Arbor Lane.

Two days later, the temperature dropped to 25. The family said Arrocha had shown signs of Alzheimer's disease and was easily confused.
