Scott Ransom is a first-class person, a fine physician and educator, and has been doing an excellent job as leader of the Health Science Center.

Dismissing him was foolish, and trying to find a person of his caliber to replace him will be impossible.

The loss of the leadership and vision of Ransom will cause permanent and irreparable damage to the Health Science Center and to the efforts to upgrade and enhance it.

Apparently, Chancellor Lee Jackson was unable to see this, or perhaps Jackson is not well-qualified for his position as UNT System chancellor.

Either way, there is a clear way to remedy the problem caused by the shocking and ill-advised dismissal of Ransom: Reinstate Ransom and replace Jackson with a chancellor who can help the Health Science Center, and UNT, grow stronger and thus better serve North Texas.
