I consider the University of North Texas Health Science Center a crown jewel for the people of Tarrant County.

I am troubled with several aspects in leadership that have come to light as a result of the recent firing of the president, Scott Ransom.

I am impressed by Ransom's record. If he was such a bad employee, why was his contract renewed a few months earlier? This appears to be some form of personal vendetta. Academic institutions are supposed to be a safe harbor for the exchange of ideas.

The last thing I want is for those in leadership to fear speaking out privately in ways to improve. I'll remind the regents of UNT this is a publicly owned

I wonder what this damage is going to cost the students and taxpayers?
