FORT WORTH -- Two gunmen opened fire during an argument at a New Year's Eve party, killing a 21-year-old man and wounding two others, police said Wednesday.

Malcolm Xavier Jennings was pronounced dead at John Peter Smith Hospital at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday, several hours after the shooting.

It was the city's first homicide of 2013.

The wounded men, identified in a police report as Charles Calvin, 61, of Fort Worth and Leonte Stone, 20, of Arlington, were expected to survive, officers said.

According to the report, a 911 call was made about 2 a.m. Tuesday that people were fighting, shots were fired and people were lying on the ground at a house in the 6200 block of Warrington Place. At least 12 people were thought to be present.

Investigators determined that Stone argued with two men who made unwanted advances toward his girlfriend. At some point, two men pulled handguns and started shooting.

Police online records indicate that one suspect has been arrested -- Torrence Thomas, 20, of Alvarado.

Thomas was in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday night on a parole violation. No other information was available.

Staff writers Deanna Boyd and Bill Miller contributed to this report.
