FORT WORTH -- Firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze Tuesday night that destroyed an unoccupied wood frame house in the Riverside neighborhood east of downtown.
Firefighters were dispatched at 8:35 p.m. to 3017 Vanhorn Ave., just off Riverside Drive. The fire caused the roof to fall in, fire Battalion Chief D.D. Clark said. No one was injured."There was nobody home; nobody lived there," he said. "There was no power or gas. My guess is that somebody had a warming fire going and maybe fell asleep."The 560-square-foot house had an appraised value of $19,900 in the 2012 tax year, according to the Tarrant Appraisal District website.Patrick M.
