Fort Worth man dies in Wise County wreck

A Fort Worth man was killed during the weekend in a traffic wreck near Decatur in Wise County, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported in a news release on Monday.

No other injuries were reported in the wreck that occurred about 9:50 p.m. Saturday on County Road 4522 near the Wise/Denton county line.

The victim was identified as Edgar Diaz, 24, who died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth shortly after the crash.

Diaz was driving a 2009 Chevrolet passenger car west on the county road when the vehicle veered off the highway, overturned and hit a fence, the DPS reports state. Investigators have not determined what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

Diaz was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, the reports state.

The wreck was under investigation.
