Arlington Martin boys fall to Long Beach Poly, 57-43

A

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) 57, Arlington Martin 43: The Jackrabbits built a lead as big as 20 points and then held off the Warriors' late rally Friday at Thomas Coliseum to advance to the Whataburger Tournament Orange Division championship game.

Roschon Prince scored 25 points and had three blocks in three quarters of play before being ejected from the game for a flagrant foul.

The Jackrabbits will face Plano East at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, both vying to become the 55th champion in tournament history. Kordell Eilts led the Warriors with 17, including four 3-pointers. Martin will play in the third-place game opposite of Richardson Berkner at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Poly took advantage of poor shooting and turnover-prone Martin and scored in transition at will in the first half. The Jackrabbits opened the second quarter on a 14-2 run to open up an 18-point lead.
