I empathize with Bob Ray Sanders, and he wrote a poignant piece on Santa and a small boy being accepted. Very touching. (See: "World desperately needs the spirit of Santa Claus," Dec. 16)

However, I have no clue how he -- and most liberals -- continue to call people who disagree with President Obama "racist."

How does Sanders interpret Rush Limbaugh's comments about Obama giving freebies like Santa Claus as "racist"? It baffles me. Limbaugh would say the same thing if a white president did it. It's also not a slam against any of the recipients.

What it is is a core difference in beliefs between those favoring a "welfare state" versus those who don't -- and see America going broke. Race doesn't enter into it.

Could the left and the media please lay down the shouts of "racism" and instead focus on ideas? That's what the right is doing.
