ARLINGTON -- The sentencing of a strip club owner convicted of trying to hire hitmen to kill Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck and Dallas attorney Tom Brandt has been postponed until Friday, federal court records show.

Ryan Walker Grant, co-owner of the now-closed Flashdancer Cabaret, was scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge John McBryde today.

The sentencing date was changed at the request of the federal prosecutor, who is on vacation this week, court records show. Grant's attorney, Warren St. John of Fort Worth, did not oppose the motion.

Grant admitted in September that he contacted an intermediary to hire men from Mexico to kill the two men for $10,000 each, according to federal prosecutors. The intermediary was an informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration who recorded the meetings and phone calls.

Assuming McBryde approves the plea deal, Grant will be sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, half of what he would have faced if convicted on both counts.
