Canyon 48, Trimble Tech 46: Taylor Jones hit a pair of free throws with .7 seconds remaining to lift Canyon over Fort Worth Trimble Tech in a tightly contested second-round, winners’ bracket matchup at the Mansfield Rotary Tournament at Timberview High School. The biggest lead for either team was just five points. Karrington Brown, who led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points, hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 40-40 with 5:15 left in the fourth quarter, then scored three more consecutive points to give Tech a 43-40 lead. Desirea McGinnis gave the Lady Bulldogs a 46-45 lead with 14 seconds remaining. Jones hit a free throw for Canyon to tie the game at 46, and then missed the second attempt. Canyon grabbed the rebound and referees called a foul with less than a second left to send Jones to the line for the winning shots. Lakendra Bassett added 12 points and 8 assists for the Lady Bulldogs.

Cibolo Steele 66, Arlington Seguin 43: After winning its first-round game against Grapevine, Seguin ran into a buzzsaw in its second-round matchup against Steele.

The Lady Cougars took an early 6-2 lead but the Lady Knights closed the first quarter on a 15-1 run and stretched the lead to 37-15 by halftime. Only late in the fourth did Seguin get any closer. Aundra Stovall led the Lady Cougars with 15 points and added five rebounds.

Mansfield Timberview 62, North Crowley 36: Lili Thompson scored 18 points as Mansfield Timberview took care of North Crowley 62-36 in the opening round of the Mansfield Rotary Tournament on Thursday at Timberview High School.

Thompson, a Stanford commit, helped push the Lady Wolves to a dominant 23-4 first quarter lead. From there, Timberview controlled the game with other Lady Wolves chipping in. Terriell Bradley scored 12 points and Timberview had 11 players score.

Aledo 63, South Grand Prairie 49: Four Ladycats scored in double figures as Aledo defeated South Grand Prairie in both team's opening round game of the Mansfield Rotary Tournament at Timberview High School.

The Ladycats took a one-point lead after the first quarter but blew the game open in the second, starting with a 7-0 run before stretching the lead to 30-15 with 4:02 left in the first half.

South Grand Prairie closed the half on an 8-0 run and got as close as 40-35 in the third quarter, but Megan Wood's three-point play with 6:34 remaining made it 55-40 to give Aledo breathing room down the stretch.

Junior Breann Forbes led Aledo with 16 points, while Justis Szczepanski-Beavers posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
