Motorcyclist dies in Johnson County wreck

A Florida man was killed this weekend when the motorcycle he was riding veered off a road and hit a tree in Johnson County, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper said Wednesday.

The victim was identified as John W. Hartsfield, 48, of Tallahassee, Fla. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday on Trailwood Drive just south of Burleson in Johnson County, the DPS reports.

Hartsfield was driving a 2003 Kawasaki in the northbound lane when the vehicle went off the road, authorities said. Investigators have not determined what caused that to happen.

The wreck is under investigation.
