A clerk was pistol-whipped Sunday morning when four men robbed an east Fort Worth convenience store, a police news release said.

The victim at Zoom Food Mart, 5651 Meadowbrook Drive, told police that the men "walked directly to the cash register area" about 7:45 a.m. One of the men pulled a gun and ordered the victim not to move as the other suspects took money from the register, the news release said.

The suspect holding the gun struck the victim on the head with it, police said in the release. The victim's condition, or whether the victim was transported to a hospital, was not reported.

The victim told police that another suspect was carrying what may have been a sawed-off shotgun.

The suspects fled on foot with an unreported amount of money.
