Waiting for E.T.?

The United States' military budget is $632 billion. Who or what is the Pentagon afraid of? Russia? China? Iran? North Korea? We certainly don't need a gigantic standing army, navy and air force to ward off al Qaeda or other terrorist organizations.

Of the four potential invaders named above, China has the biggest military budget at $100 billion. A U.S. military two times, or even triple, the size of our nearest rival should be sufficient protections, but six times its size is just wasteful. Just think what we could do with those extra resources -- $100 billion toward education, $100 billion toward infrastructure and the rest toward healthcare or to reduce the national debt.

Because no credible threats exist, there must be some other potential attacker. E.T., of course. Maybe Area 51 actually contains the body of a long-dead E.T.

I don't think any E.T. will ever invade the Earth. They'll just wait until we make the Earth unfit for human habitation. We die off; they land and take over without firing a shot.
